Eric Geurts, a man with a guitar and a big songbook.

Many musicians who have known the sixties or seventies (consciously or not...) have been heavily infected by the melodic pop music virus of those days. This diagnostic is more than accurate for the musical influences of guitarist, singer-songwriter and producer Eric Geurts. Since his early teens he plays and composes melodic pop- and rocksongs. His songbook is impressive: it contains more than 500 compositions.

His first official recording dates from 1984. With The Seconds he performs the song 'Time Has Changed You' on the LOF compilation.

Early nineties he is the creative force in Kiss The Bride. The band signs with EMI Belgium through which two attractive pop tunes are released: 'When the Love Is Gone' and 'Sometimes It Just Ain't Enough'. In the slipstream of some TV performances Kiss The Bride intensively tours the local concert circuit.

In 1997 another hit single emerges from Eric's musical brain. For Universal Music Belgium he composes and produces 'Not Afraid of the Dark', an exiting tune, performed by Indiana.

The new millennium appeals for a new milestone in Eric's career. In 2003 he creates his own record label Flying Snowman Records. He contracts female singer Yanah to work on a full CD. The first release with Yanah is the single 'The Girl In The Picture'. The song is an homage to Kim Phuc, the screaming little girl running away from napalm fire in the world famous picture taken by Nick Ut in 1972 during the Vietnamese war. Kim is now leading an NGO for children victims of war. All the benefits of the song are for The Kim Foundation International.

'All She's Saying', the second single from the CD, gets a lot of airplay on FM4. Another release 'Back Against the Wall' gets a heavy rotation on Radio 2. Yanah sings the song on popular television shows like 'Tien om te Zien' and 'Zomerhit 2004'. With 'Yes or No', the next single, Yanah attends preselections of the Eurosong contest of 2004 for Belgium. 'The Morning After' gets a lot of airplay on the Flemish radio’s. The full cd 'The Girl in the Picture' receives very positive press reviews. Yanah's band, with Eric as lead guitarist and musical director, play many in- and outdoor concerts.

After producing some local musical acts and playing a lot of concerts with the Classic Rock cover band NeverB4, Eric now steps forward as a solo artist. His debut album "Leave a Mark" was released on April 14, 2021 which was ... the 60th birthday of Eric! Several of the singles that were taken from his debut album were played on Belgian National Radio (Radio 2, Classic 21, ...).

Beaucoup de musiciens rock qui ont connu les sixties et/ou les seventies ont été frappés, à des degrés divers, par le virus de la pop mélodique. Il en va de même pour Eric Geurts, guitariste, auteur, compositeur, interprête et producteur. L’homme ne renie en rien ces influences. Depuis l’âge de 15 ans Eric écrit des chansons tant pop que rock. Son imposant catalogue compte d’ores et déjà plusieurs centaines de titres.

C’est en 1984 que l’on entend parler de lui pour la première fois. Avec son groupe, The Seconds, il se retrouve sur la compilation LOF avec le titre 'Time Has Changed You'.

Au début des années ’90, il forme le groupe Kiss The Bride. La major EMI Belgium en sort les deux simples : 'When the Love Is Gone' et 'Sometimes It Just Ain't Enough'. Quelques passages à la télévision et de nombreuses concerts s’en suivirent.

En 1997 Eric écrit produit 'Not Afraid of the Dark'un nouveau 'hit' radio interprété par le groupe Indiana et ce, pour le compte d’Universal Music Belgium.

En 2003, il crée Flying Snowman Records, son propre label ainsi que sa maison de production. Il prend sous son aile la jeune artiste et chanteuse Yanah. Son premier single avec Yanah s’intitule 'The Girl in the Picture'. C’est un hommage à Kim Phuc, la petite fille, l’air hagard, que l’on voit courir nue sur cette photo emblèmatique de la guerre du Vietnam qui a fait le tour du monde. Kim Phuc était âgée de 9 ans lorsqu’elle fut gravement brûlée lors d’un bombardement au napalm en 1972. Depuis de nombreuses années Kim Phuc dirige une ONG qui aide des enfants victime de guerre. Tous les bénéfices de la chanson sont versés à la Kim Foundation International.

'All She's Saying', le deuxième simple du cd, fait l’objet d’une diffusion massive sur FM4, tandis que 'Back Against the Wall' passe en boucle sur Radio 2. Ce titre permettra à Yanah de faire un crochet par l’émission 'Tien om te Zien' sur VTM et 'Zomerhit 2004' de Radio 2. En 2004, lors des présélections pour l’Eurovison, Yanah se présente avec la chanson 'Yes or No'. De son côté, 'The Morning After' bénéficie d’une diffusion ponctuelle sur les ondes des radios néerlandophones. A sa sortie, l’album 'The Girl in the Picture' reçoit de bonnes critiques dans la presse. Parallèlement, Yanah et son groupe, au sein duquel on retrouve Eric au poste de guitariste, décrochent une tournée qui passe par les centres culturels du nord du pays ainsi que quelques festivals d'été.

Au cours des années qui suivent, Eric produit encore divers groupes et artistes, mais plus que tout, il se divertit en donnant de nombreux concerts avec le Classic Rock coverband NeverB4 au sein duquel il officie à la 'six cordes'. L’actualité toute fraîche de l’artiste s’enrichît avec la sortie de son premier album "Leave a Mark" le 14 avril 2021, qui était ... le 60ième anniversiare d'Eric! Plusieurs simples ont été extraits de cet album et ont été joués sur la radio nationale Belge (Radio 2, Classic 21, ...).

Muzikanten die de sixties of seventies (al dan niet bewust…) hebben meegemaakt, zijn vaak voor eeuwig en altijd aangestoken door het melodieuze popvirus. Zo ook gitarist, singer-songwriter en producer Eric Geurts. Al sinds zijn 15de componeert hij melodieuze pop- en rocksongs. Zijn imposante songbook telt ondertussen meerdere honderden titels.

Met zijn toenmalige band The Seconds is hij voor het eerst te horen op de LOF LP (1984) met 'Time Has Changed You'.

In de jaren ‘90 vormt hij de succesvolle band Kiss The Bride. EMI Belgium brengt twee singles van hen uit: 'When the Love Is Gone' en 'Sometimes It Just Ain't Enough'. TV-shows en vele live-optredens verzilveren het succes van deze aanstekelijke popsongs.

In 1997 schrijft en producet Eric voor Universal Music Belgium een nieuwe radiohit: 'Not Afraid of the Dark', vertolkt door Indiana.

In 2003 richt hij zijn label Flying Snowman Records op. Hij gaat in zee met zangeres en artieste Yanah. De eerste single met Yanah wordt 'The Girl in the Picture'. De song is een ode aan Kim Phuc, het rennende naakte 9-jarige meisje dat wereldbekend werd via de zwart-wit foto na een napalmbombardement in de Vietnamoorlog. Hierbij raakte Kim Phuc zwaar verbrand. Kim runt nu een ngo die oorlogsslachtoffers helpt. De opbrengst van de song gaat volledig naar The Kim Foundation International.

Na het producen van enkele kleinere acts en een groot aantal optredens met de Classic Rock coverband NeverB4 treedt Eric nu op de voorgrond als solo-artiest. Zijn debuutalbum "Leave a Mark" is uitgekomen op 14 april 2021, wat toevallig... ook de 60ste verjaardag was van Eric! Meerdere singles die uit dit album geperst werden haalden airplay op de Belgische nationale radio (Radio 2, Classic 21, ...).
